Muscat Securities Market (MSM) indices ended Thursday's session in the green as the benchmark index soared for the third consecutive session gaining 0.54%, or 40.41 points and closed at 7479.33 points, while Al Sharia index declined by 0.11% to 1070.17 points.
Market value gained OMR 56 million to OMR 15.552 billion against OMR 15.496 billion yesterday.
Abdullah Al-Semari, Arab Capital Markets Company technical analyst, said that Muscat’s benchmark index increased today by 0.54% or around 40 points and closed the trading session above 7450 points at 7479.33 points.
The market succeeded in passing the level of 7450 points to target the level of 7500 points, Al-Semari told Mubasher in a statement, adding that the index will face support at 7345 points, then 7322 points.
Liquidity declined compared with the last session as a total of 15.55 million shares were traded through 1435 transactions at a turnover of OMR 7.76 million, while yesterday, a total of 26.8 million shares were traded through 1679 transactions at a turnover of OMR 9.9 million.
Market sectors recorded a collective rise led by the financial sector, which gained 0.94% followed by the industrial sector which climbed up by 0.14%. Meanwhile, the services sector rose by 0.04%.
A total of 51 companies traded today, of which 19 rose, 8 declined and 24 remained unchanged.
The top three gainers were Global Financial Investment whose shares increased by 6.06% to OMR 0.140, VOLTAMP Energy which rose by 3.45% to OMR 0.420 and ONIC. Holding which added 3.14% to OMR 0.460.
The top three losers were National Gas whose shares declined by 1.63% to OMR 0.724, Oman Fisheries which decreased by 1.09% to OMR 0.091 and Al Madina Investment which shed 1.03% to OMR 0.096.
