Doha - Mubasher: Al Meera Consumer Goods Company plans to complete its expansion plans in Qatar in 2017 by opening new branches for serving students in the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science, and Community Development, according to a press statement.

This year will witness the signing of a contract with Lusail Real Estate Company to operate and manage two shopping centres in the two regions of north of Mount Teilb and the northern residential villas.

This comes as part of Al Meera’s strategy to cooperate with national companies, the company said.

The company has already opened two new shopping centres in Bosadra, north of Al Sailiyah, while Umm Salal branch was opened in January 2017. A branch in east Al Wakrah was opened a few days ago, Al Meera added.

"We will continue to open new branches, with a second one coming to Obeib in April. This will conclude our current expansion stage, which entailed five shopping malls at the beginning of the second quarter of 2017," it said.

Al Meera is seeking to expand in Oman by establishing 10 shopping centres across the country by 2022, according to the statement.

It also aims to give consumers a unique shopping experience there, so it is considering the establishment of several projects which will be reflected on the company's performance.

The company’s ordinary general meeting (OGM) approved the board’s recommendation to distribute cash dividends representing 90% of the share's par value or at QAR 9 per share.

The company posted QAR 199.2 million in profits in 2016, compared to QAR 162.1 million in 2015, showing an increase of 22.99%.
