Cairo - Mubasher: Telecom Egypt and Jordan’s NaiTel, a telecom arm of Aqaba Digital Hub (ADH), have completed the ‘Coral Bridge’ subsea cable, according to a bourse disclosure.

The cable marks the first direct digital link between the two countries in more than two decades. It connects Telecom Egypt’s new Taba landing station to Aqaba Digital Hub’s Tier III carrier-neutral facility.

With 48 fiber pairs and a capacity exceeding 1 Petabit, it reduces latency and costs for applications such as cloud computing and artificial intelligence.

By integrating into Telecom Egypt’s subsea ecosystem, Coral Bridge offers seamless connectivity across Asia, Europe, and Africa.

Furthermore, the system enhances redundancy and recovery strategies for enterprises and hyperscalers hosted in Jordan.

The project marks a major step in regional digital infrastructure and reflects sustainable cross-border cooperation.

Eyad Abu Khorma, Founder and CEO of ADH, commented: “Coral Bridge is more than just a cable, it’s a strategic asset for the entire region. It lands at ADH’s carrier-neutral facility in Jordan, enhances regional market access, and features one of MENA’s largest data centers.”

“By enabling a direct digital bridge between Aqaba-Jordan and Sinai Peninsula-Egypt, we are strengthening regional resilience and opening new opportunities for high-performance infrastructure and sovereign connectivity,” he added.

Mohamed Nasr, Managing Director and CEO of Telecom Egypt, stated: “The strategic proximity between Taba and Aqaba creates a vital opportunity to establish a robust corridor for data connectivity across the Middle East and Europe.”

The CEO continued: “Through our collaboration with NaiTel, leveraging their carrier-neutral ecosystem in Aqaba via the Aqaba Digital Hub, the Coral Bridge subsea cable system will aggregate substantial regional traffic and channel it through Egypt’s diverse terrestrial routes to the Mediterranean Sea.”

“This critical infrastructure is key to meeting the region’s growing data demands, supporting data center expansion, and enhancing the resilience of subsea cable networks in the region,” Nasr concluded.

During the first six months (6M) of 2025, Telecom Egypt generated consolidated net profits after tax totaling EGP 10.52 billion, marking a year-on-year (YoY) surge from EGP 6.51 billion.
