Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: Orascom Construction, dual listed on the Egyptian Exchange (EGX), has signed in a consortium with Aeolus and ENGIE a power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) to carry out a wind farm in Egypt.
The 900 MW wind farm will be developed near Ras Shokeir in the Gulf of Suez under a 25-year build-own-operate (BOO) model, according to a bourse disclosure on ADX.
Orascom Construction will carry out all civil and electrical works for the balance of plant, in addition to supplying certain local components.
The wind project will progress towards financial close that is expected by early third quarter (Q3) of 2026.
Meanwhile, the consortium comprises Orascom Construction (25%), major player in the energy transition ENGIE (35%), and Aeolus (40%), an African renewable energy IPP platform of Toyota Tsusho Corporation.
This project marks the consortium’s third wind farm, building on two operational BOO wind farms with a total capacity of 912.5 MW, both completed ahead of schedule.
The project will also increase Orascom Construction’s wind power capacity to 1.8 GW and further expand the group’s concessions portfolio, which currently includes renewable energy, water, and logistics across Egypt, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia.
In 2025, Orascom Construction generated $195 million in consolidated net profits attributable to shareholders.
Orascom Construction earlier entered into a joint venture (JV) to develop a combined cycle gas-fired power plant in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia.
